Varna

Known as the seaside capital of Bulgaria, Verna is steeped in history dating back to Romans and scattered with archaeological remains. Tourists are spoilt for choice with accommodation and the local food is astonishingly cheap.

Golden Sands

Just 17 kms off Verna, this resort has a resplendent beach of golden sand. The forest covered coast slopes down terrace-like to the sea. There are several hot-water mineral springs famous for their healing and prophylactic ability.

Albena

Albena is one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. There are numerous restaurants and cafes and accommodation types to suit any budget. The flower gardens are a veritable riot of colour. There are quite a few health spas and facilities for wind surfing, yachting, water skiing and paragliding.

Riviera

Located inside the natural park grounds, there are trees centuries old at the water's edge; and on a beautiful beach. The former governmental buildings have been converted into apartments and there are five hotels.

Roussalka Resort

Roussalka means mermaid in Bulgarian and the resort is right in the middle of a nature reserve. The beach is rocky and the famous caves of Yaylata with primitive cave paintings are just a few kilometres away.

St. Constantine and Elena

This is the oldest Bulgarian Black Sea resort famous for calm, quiet and woodland surroundings. The
main attraction is the chapel at St. Constantine and Elena monastery.

Sunny Beach

Hundreds of years ago, this region had two large fresh water wells and the residents earned their living by selling drinking water to nearby Nessebur. Today the beach is generally regarded as the best in the entire Costa del Sol region.

Nessebur

It is the oldest town in Bulgaria with a history dating back to 6th century BC, peppered with well preserved ancient and medieval relics.

Primorsko

With a ten kilometre long beach, a crescent of fine white sand meeting the calm blue waters of Black Sea, it has some 20 modest but clean bungalows and a large campsite surrounded by woods.

Sozopol

Founded in 610 BC as Apollonia, the area is a favoured haunt of artists, writers, and other creative minds. The small harbour is an interesting place to while away some time watching local fishermen bring in their catches of popcheta, karagyoz, safrid and tsatsa.

Rental Accommodation

Accommodation was a big problem in Bulgaria but now brand new luxury villas, and two-three-four bed roomed apartments have come up in large numbers. They cater to all budgets starting from luxury penthouses with sea facing glass balconies to one bed roomed self catering apartments.

Conclusion

The waters of the Black Sea are calm and the climate is warm, making this strip of land a hit with tourists in search of surf and sun.
