Skiing Facilities
The resort has 25 km excellent ski-runs and 38 km cross-country skiing tracks which are served by 18 lifts with a total capacity of 8500 persons per hour. The ski runs are very well maintained with the authorities using snow levellers and snow guns to make them safe and smooth.
The ski schools here are among the best in Europe and have highly qualified and internationally reputed instructors. These instructors are fluent in English and several other European languages and easily inspire confidence among the new learners. There are many ski pistes of varying degrees of difficulty and most of them start from the TV tower at Snejanka Park just above the resort.
Snowboarding, ice-skating and tobogganing also catch the fancy of many a tourist and they learn the finer points of the sport under the watchful eyes of instructors. The exuberance of the region is infectious and the least adventurous suddenly becomes extremely enthusiastic.
Accommodations Available
There are many hotels in Pamporovo and accommodation is never a problem. Pamporovo and Orlovets Hotel are leading the pack with each sporting 5 stars. There are other excellent hotels offering 4 star comfort and Belmont Hotel, Prespa Hotel and Malina Villas are also very good and promise guests 3 star hospitality.
For someone who wants to watch the purse strings, Cedar Heights Apartment would be the perfect choice. These self catering apartmen
ts provide panoramic view of Rhodope and are less than half a kilometre away from the gondola lift station. Each apartment is fully furnished and can accommodate up to three persons. Additional facilities of pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and Turkish bath are included in the unbelievably cheap rental of £16 a night.
Night Life
You could sip wine in a cosy piano bar or occupy a comfortable reclining chair at White Hart pub. If that is too sedate for you, party the night away at Night Flight, the resort's largest disco, at Hotel Rojen. You might also let your hair down at BJ’s in the lobby of Perelik hotel or Daks Bar at hotel Snejanka. Wherever you go you will hear strains of music. No wonder that, Rhodope Mountain had been the abode of Orpheus.
Restaurants
There are many restaurants serving delicious food but to get a feel of the ethnic, definitely visit Chevermeto, the local folk tavern where whole sheep are roasted over open fires and dancers in traditional costume provide colourful entertainment. If you would like to keep it a little low keyed and homely, go to The White Hart. Here you’ll get home made food mouth-watering steaks, a choice of pizza and pasta and even a selection of excellent vegetarian dishes. Bulgarian wines are unique - never miss those.
Conclusion
The extremely healthy Mediterranean climate is a big attraction among tourists and this resort town remains busy throughout the year.
